Armand Swenson Bobcat -- 1943 USGI Base
A superb example of an early Armand Swenson Custom. 1943 Remington Rand M1911A1 masterfully chopped and reworked into this serious fighting gun. I know of a couple of Swenson Bobcats that went to Vietnam, so these guns were considered the best in class for a defensive sidearm in their day. This one likely built in the 1967-1970 timeframe. The gun remains in very impressive condition, even some of Armand’s layout blue can be seen in some spots internally. Gun has been chopped to commander length, and dressed with all the usual Swenson features including his early shop-made ambi safety. This gun is unique among Swenson’s in that it has a Hardball rear sight in lieu of his usual S&W Adjustable (If I were planning to use one of these in a hard-use environment I would have opted the same), also note the matting is carried down the rear of the slide! Colt barrel fully welded up and refit, tight bushing, tightened frame to slide, lovely sharp checkering on frame and trigger guard. A really neat example, and a snapshot of one of the best Custom Defensive pistols money could buy in the mid to late 1960s.
