In the late 1990s Davidsons Firearms ordered a special run of the Marlin 1895, 1000 of each variant each year for 5 years. This, the LTD-I is the first run from 1997. This one being #52 of the run of 1000! These guns all had features that Marlin had never previously offered in the 1895 line. This one having a 24” Half-Octagon barrel and smooth Walnut stocks. The gun also has traditional Ballard rifling, so they shoot cast and jacketed bullets very well. This one has minor handling marks but is very very nice shape. Action is super smooth and bore is bright. This JM Marlin 1895 is to my eye the best in breed for the Marlin 45-70s in the modern age.
