PAIR Armand Swenson Custom Colt Government and Commander 1911s
These guns, both mfg in late 72-early 73 were likely sent New in their boxes to Armand to be built as a pair. They were commissioned by a Mr. Rauch, and his name is scribed in both guns, one with a #1, the other with a #2 denoting they were built together. The guns were built in the 73-74/5 timeframe when Armand moved shops from Gardena CA to Fallbrook CA, thus why there is no city name in the markings. Both guns come with one HC colt mag, also in their original Colt boxes, with original ppwk. Armand's test targets are also included, making these a very complete package, I have never seen a #'d pair from Swenson, and this pair is together, complete, and very high condition. Note the Prussian/dykem blue on the barrel feet Armand used in fitting, this would not be present in a gun that was used much, I believe they may be near unfired since delivered. When the guns arrived, they had a little dried oil which I have cleaned off, and put fresh oil on the moving surfaces, the commander has a very tiny mark under the slide stop that it arrived with as well.
Both guns lockup very tight, with tightened frame to slide, and welded and refit barrels wearing match bushings. Beautifully squared guards, great checkering.
If you are a custom 1911 collector, and want a hard-to-top pair from a top builder of the early days of Combat handgunning, this is it.
